The possibility of war had caused great alarm among the worlds political leaders.  On the ground schools were practicing bomb raids and stockpiling food. Aside from those taking a defensive stance, there were others who welcomed the thought of war because it would be a contrast to the daily skirmishes and oppressive acts of opposing factions.
